Trading

A trade is a table with two piles. One pile is what you give. The other is what you get. Your phone shows both piles, prices them, and says which way the trade leans. The other person can be at the table with their own phone. You can also lay out both piles on yours.

Start a trade

Start a trade

Trades live on the Home screen. Tap Trade to open your trades. The button at the bottom right starts a trade or joins one.

Starting a trade makes a code straight away. The code is six letters. It names the trade. Another phone uses it to join.

A trade does not need a second phone. Most people you trade with will not have Sparkheim. Lay out your pile and theirs on your own phone. Read the value bar together and agree out loud. That is the normal way to use it.

To put a whole binder, deck, or list on the table at once, hold a finger on it in Collection, or open it and use the button at the bottom right. Choose Start a trade. Every card in it lands on your side of a new trade.

Add cards

Add cards

Each pile has a plus. It offers Add a card, Scan a card, and cash. Your own pile also offers Add from collection.

Add a card searches every card. Pick the card and its version, then add it. The search stays open so the next card is one tap away.

Add from collection shows your own cards. Tap one to put a copy on the table. Select several and add them together. The filter has a Location section for looking in one binder or deck.

Scan a card opens the scanner. It reads cards into a tray of its own, not your normal scan tray. Tap Add to trade in that tray. Closing the scanner does the same. The cards land on the pile.

Every card on the table says where it came from. The band under it reads Searched, Scanned, or the name of the binder or deck it was picked from.

Tap a card on the table to change it. Hold a finger on it to remove it. A card picked from your collection reopens at its traded count, up to what you own. A searched or scanned card reopens in the normal edit screen.

Cash

Cash

Cash sits on the table like a card. Choose Add cash under a pile's plus and type the amount. It shows as a gold card at the end of that pile. It counts toward that pile's value.

Cash is in your currency. On the other person's phone it is shown in theirs, converted with the app's exchange rates.

The value bar

The value bar

The value bar reads the table. It shows what you give, what you get, and the difference between them. Cash is included. Even means the two piles are worth the same.

Each phone prices the trade itself. Prices come from your own price source and your own currency. No price travels between phones. Two people can see two numbers for the same card, the same as they would on two websites.

Two phones

Two phones

Tap the connection row at the top of the trade to show its code. The other person opens Sparkheim, taps Trade, then Join a trade. They scan the code or type it. They can also point their camera at it.

Share link sends the code as a link. With the share sheet open, bring the two phones together. The link goes across. Tapping it opens Sparkheim straight into the join.

Before the first join, the phone asks once. Joining puts your pile on their table in place of anything they laid out for your side.

Once two phones are connected, each phone owns one pile. You change yours. They change theirs. The plus on their pile goes away on your screen.

Walking out of range is fine. Both phones keep the whole trade. When you are back in range, tap Reconnect on the phone that joined. Show the code again on the phone that started. Each phone sends its pile again and the table is whole.

Complete a trade

Complete a trade

Complete tells the phone the trade happened. Cards you gave from your collection leave it. Cards you got land in your Unsorted binder. You can file them later. A card you gave that came from search or a scan leaves nothing. It was never in your collection.

Alone on the table, Complete finishes at once, after you confirm.

With another phone connected, Complete locks your side. Their phone says They agreed. Their Complete finishes it for both. Until then, you can tap Cancel to unlock. Any change to either pile also unlocks it, on both phones. Nobody can slip a card in after you locked.

A completed trade stays in your list. Open it any time to see what was agreed. It cannot be completed twice.

Your trades

Your trades

Ongoing and Completed are the two shelves. Each trade shows its code. What you give is on the left. What you get is on the right. Which way it leans is in the middle.

Hold a finger on a trade to show its code again or to delete it. Deleting a trade removes only the trade. Your collection does not change.

If you hide the Trade panel on Home, the Start a trade choices on binders, decks, and lists go away with it.

Questions

Questions

Does the other person need Sparkheim?

No. Lay out both piles on your phone and read the value bar together. A second phone only changes who edits which pile.

Does a trade need internet?

No. Two phones talk over Bluetooth. They need to be near each other. A trade on one phone needs nothing at all.

Why did a card leave my trade by itself?

You gave it from your collection. That copy is no longer there. It was moved, merged, deleted, or given in another trade you completed. The trade follows your collection. It drops the card and tells you.

Can someone change the trade after I tap Complete?

No. Complete locks your side. If they change anything, your lock is undone and you are told. Nothing is written until you both agree to the same table.

Is the price the same on both phones?

Only if you both use the same price source and currency. Each phone prices the cards itself. That is on purpose. A changed app on the other side of the table cannot tell your phone what a card is worth.

What if my phone dies in the middle of Complete?

Nothing is written twice. The trade remembers how far it got. It finishes the rest the next time you open Sparkheim.
